This project represents a modern adaptation of my chosen building; Victoria Baths in Manchester. I have decided to restore the shine and spirit to this place; in a new, innovative way to bring the community together again in a pop up set of structures. Each swimming pool represents a different body movement level, from very moderate to absolutely random. Starting with a simple bubble shape which is the essence of this place, I have developed that into organic structure located in the middle pool. I decided to build a body and mind studio there-(Yoga, Pilates, Thai chi). Each rib is created based on the silhouette of individual Yoga poses, I have taken advantage of the curves and used them in various ways; as benches, shelves etc. There is also multicolour lighting projected over the fabric to bring colours of soap bubbles. The structure wooden legs and tinted plastic shelves are multi-coloured to bring the 3dimensional depth. The two other rooms are structures where people will decide what shape and curve the structure will become based on their own movements and inspiration of what comes from natural bubble transformation. The jump fun area in first pool is created based o flight pattern where net platform made of ropes in this pattern represent an air body movement. The water movement is created of inflatable structure made of PVC, where visitor while jumping and playing inside create the curves. The whole project is made respecting Grade II*, where not a single drill is made. All the structures are self-supported in various ways, mostly by metal rods attached to the roof structure and railings.
